DESCRIPTION:

“With this choreography, we imagine our future as old people.” Performed to the music of John and the Farmer by Packie Manus Byrne and Bridge Over Troubled Water by Simon & Garfunkel, the piece explores the themes of the passing of time and the fear of growing old. Inspired by the lyrics of the song by Simon & Garfunkel, the choreography reflects the idea of mutual support and that, even when after a lifetime together you can no longer stand each other, you continue to “run” side by side. This work also pays homage to Hamburg and the choreographer and former director of the Hamburg Ballet John Neumeier, where Sasha and Simone first met in 2009. Neumeier had previously created a duet entitled “Opus 100 – for Maurice” to the same song in 1996, dedicated to Maurice Béjart.
