LA JEUNE FILLE ET LA MORT

Creation: 2022
Original Cast: Yumi Aizawa – Sasha Riva – Simone Repele
Music: F.Schubert
Duration: ca. 15 min

The theme from the Lied “Der Tod und das Mädchen” is disarmingly simple. In the
second movement of this Quartet n ° 14 in D minor, he goes through five variations
which reveal the anguish of the composer himself in the face of this death which he
knows to live in him, claim him, seduce him and rock him in at the same time as it
revels and indignates him.

Maiden:
Stay away! Oh, stay away!
Go, fierce Death!
I am still young, please go!
And do not touch me.
Death:
Give me your hand, you beautiful and tender vision!
I am a friend, and come not to hurt you.
Be of good cheer! I am not cruel,
You will sleep softly in my arms!

Sasha Riva and Simone Repele deliver an original vision to three characters of this
story. The young girl faces two faces of death: the grave pitcher and the mirror she
carries and in which we must contemplate our destiny.
The two choreographers take the side of celebrating the end of a life cycle. There is
undoubtedly a ritual of death. Childhood evaporates and virginity turns into all-
consuming passions. There is a headlong rush, woven in farewell to purity in order
to emerge the woman figure. The one who from then on, through the feeling of her
end, will be aware of her life. But this path is also the one of desire, sex and
manipulation. –
